Leonardo Neiva
The Brazilian baritone Leonardo Neiva is distinguished by his vocal versatility, combined with intensity and stage presence. He is a member of the ensemble at the Vienna State Opera, where he made his debut in 2023 as Michele in Il tabarro and has since performed as Marcello (La Bohème), Montano (Rigoletto), Mandarin (Turandot), and Marquis d’Obigny (La Traviata).
At the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, he portrayed Scarpia (Tosca), as well as Giacomo in Giovanna d’Arco at Malmö Opera and the Copenhagen Opera Festival. His upcoming engagements include Dancaïre in Carmen with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem with OSESP, and a new production of Friedenstag at the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo.
In 2022, he was a member of the Estonian National Opera, where he performed several leading roles, including Telramund (Lohengrin). Over the course of his twenty-year career in South America, he has appeared at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Teatro Municipal de Santiago in Chile, the Teatro Solís and Teatro Sodré in Montevideo, as well as at the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, and Sala São Paulo.
Additionally, he has made several recordings, including Cecco di Vecchio in Rienzi and the baritone part in Heitor Villa-Lobos’ 10th Symphony Ameríndia.
Leonardo Neiva was born and raised in Brasília. He studied at the Brasília School of Music and the University of Brasília, spent most of his life in São Paulo, and currently resides in Vienna.
