Joining in and being a part means jumping in, trying things out and discovering new things together - across generations.
Our participatory projects are places for encounters and discussions about opera, theater, dance and topics that concern us all! There is space here for your own creative practice and your ideas. You can gain insights behind the scenes, try your hand at improvisation and theater, develop dramaturgies and plays or become composersand choreographersyourself.
No special prior knowledge is required to take part, just the desire and courage to try something new in a group!

Nessun Dorma
Overnight at the Vienna State Opera. The evening begins at NEST with creative workshops and leads to the State Opera - with a night tour and overnight stay on the rehearsal stage. In the morning: children's opera Musketeers!

Inspired by role-playing and mistaken identity games from the cosmos of William Shakespeare, participants improvise under the guidance of a theater teacher. Playful scenes and new perspectives on familiar motifs are created.

Building your own opera in under three hours? Challenge accepted! The family workshop is a fun way to create a mini opera. No previous knowledge necessary - just the desire, curiosity and courage to create something unique together.

Tanzlabor Jung
Dance and theater are performed at Tanzlabor Jung. They create their own choreography around a ballet from the Vienna State Ballet. No special previous knowledge necessary, regular participation desired.

Inside Opera
Can't get enough of opera or want to get to know the genre better? At Inside Opera, works are discussed weekly, artists are met and insights are given behind the scenes.

Opera laboratory
In the opera laboratory, an ensemble experiments weekly with theatrical and musical themes from Verdi's Luisa Miller andconnects them with their own lives. The performance Heimlich! will be shown at NEST.
For 14-24 year olds.

Dance lab
Inspired by Twyla Tharp's ballet In the Upper Room, the group is developing its own dance piece. The performance Between Us will be shown on stage at NEST with live music at the end of the project.

For Everybody
Pop-Up Choir
Opera meets pop! Once a month, the pop-up choir fills special places in Vienna with music. Everyone who enjoys singing together is welcome - with or without choir experience.
For everyone between the ages of 8 and 108.

Special features of an opera or ballet production are explored through improvisation, scenic play, music-making and movement. Finally, we attend the performance together.

Evening and Party
Fashion meets Opera
Young designers from KunstModeDesign Herbststraße present their latest collections on the Feststiege and in the state rooms of the Vienna State Opera. Afterwards, the state rooms become a club.

Opera karaoke
The audience sings along to pop and opera hits. Whoever cycles the fastest on the exercise bike chooses the next song and performs on stage. Or you can sing, dance and have a relaxed party with a drink in the audience.

Dance together for one night on the NEST stage! Dance karaoke is karaoke in motion: The audience chooses dance videos that are projected and dances the choreographies together to the sound of a live DJ.
