Backstage Tour
Have you always wanted to experience what it’s like to be on stage yourself? Are you curious about where all the big props are stored? Do you want to know where and how our rehearsals take place and how the chorus singers warm up?
Our backstage tour offers answers to all these questions and much more. You’ll visit areas you’ve never even heard of – not even as an avid opera fan. The tour takes you above, below, behind, and over the stage, and we’ll show you where large props are stored.
During this 90-minute tour, you’ll get a glimpse into selected rehearsal and work areas, as well as key aspects of the stage. From the rehearsal halls to the various technical levels, you’ll gain a unique perspective on the interplay of art, craftsmanship, and technology that makes our daily operations possible.
Tickets are available exclusively online through our ticket shop. Tickets cannot be purchased on site or at the regular box offices.
Backstage tours take place only on select Sundays. Group size is limited to a maximum of 20 people. The tours are offered exclusively in English and German.
The meeting point is the standing-room box office (ground floor, no. 5 on the building plan). The tour starts on time. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start. Latecomers will not be admitted. No refunds or rescheduling will be granted.
Please note that the backstage tours are not wheelchair-accessible. During the tour, several floors must be navigated exclusively via staircases. The route leads from the 2nd basement level up to the 6th floor.
