Required training (or comparable qualification):
- Completed vocational training in a woodworking profession or
- Completed vocational training as a painter and coating technician or
- Completed vocational training as an upholsterer/decorator
- Completed vocational training in a metalworking profession
Requirements:
- Technical understanding and manual dexterity
- Absolute freedom from vertigo and a head for heights
- Ability to work in a team, reliability and the ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to work irregular hours (evenings, weekends and public holidays as well as split shifts)

Make-up artists
We are looking to strengthen our make-up department with immediate effect
→ Make-up artists - occasionally as temporary helpers
Tasks:
Supporting our make-up team during rehearsals and performances
- Professional and role-appropriate make-up for stage and television according to artistic specifications
- Professional and role-appropriate hairdressing and styling of hair according to artistic specifications
- Professional application, adjustment, removal and cleaning of wigs, hairpieces, facial hair as well as bald heads, partially bald heads, plastic facial parts, wounds, etc.
Your profile:
Completed apprenticeship as a make-up artist or hairdresser and wig maker or
Training as a qualified make-up artist or make-up artist
Experience in theater, film or television is an advantage
High level of craftsmanship and creativity
Resilience and composure in stressful situations
Team spirit, sense of responsibility, reliability and enjoyment of working with artists
Willingness to work irregular hours (evenings, weekends, public holidays)
Very good knowledge of German

Remuneration is in accordance with the 1999 collective agreement for technical staff.

For the NEST - the new state opera in the Künstlerhaus we are looking for a
→ Employee for the props/equipment department
The position will be filled full-time from 01.09.2026 for an indefinite period.
With its national and international artists, the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna State Ballet, the Vienna State Opera is one of the world's most prestigious opera houses. More than 900 employees enable a repertoire of more than 280 performances per season. In December 2024, the Vienna State Opera received a second venue. In addition to music theater for children and young people, it also hosts contemporary operas, ballet and special events. Around 100 events per season are planned in various formats.
Tasks:
- Assisting with the planning, set-up and dismantling of all types of events for the props and stage trades
- Collaboration in the development of the respective production
- Supervision of the performance and rehearsal process
- Research, production, purchasing, maintenance and testing of props
- Collaboration and coordination with the workshops, directing teams and performers
- Care, inventory, storage and timely transportation of props
- Teaching the safe use of special effects and handling of weapons, taking into account all safety and protection regulations
- Collaboration in the realization of guest performance productions and support with rentals and external events
Requirements:
- Vocational training in arts and crafts, training as an event technology specialist or decorator, interior decorator, carpenter, locksmith or mechatronics technician
- Pyrotechnics training is an advantage
- Craftsmanship and technical understanding, creativity and inventiveness
- Enthusiasm for the theater business and a pronounced empathy for artistic processes
- Experience in the cultural event sector
- High level of commitment, sense of responsibility, independence and initiative
- Willingness to work irregular hours (evenings, weekends and public holidays as well as split shifts)
- Communication and organizational skills, assertiveness and negotiation skills as well as enjoyment in dealing with artists and technicians
