Gerald Finley
The celebrated Canadian bass-baritone Gerald Finley (a Grammy Award winner) appears regularly at the world’s leading opera houses and concert venues, and is featured on an extensive range of CD and DVD recordings.
His distinguished career encompasses the full spectrum of vocal repertoire, collaborating with many of the world’s foremost composers, orchestras, and conductors.
At the beginning of his career, his focus was on the music of Mozart (including the title role in Don Giovanni and Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro), but his expanding repertoire soon came to include roles such as Duke Bluebeard, Guillaume Tell, J. Robert Oppenheimer in John Adams’ Dr. Atomic, and Jaufré Rudel in Saariaho’s L’amour de loin.
He also created the role of Harry Heegan in Mark Anthony Turnage’s The Silver Tassie. In recent years, he has also achieved major success in the Wagner and Verdi repertoire (Hans Sachs, Amfortas, Wolfram, Falstaff, Iago).
Upcoming engagements include Count Almaviva and Macbeth at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Duke Bluebeard in Aix-en-Provence, and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
