Filipe Manu
The New Zealand–Tongan tenor Filipe Manu is one of the most exciting young talents to have completed the world-renowned Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
A multiple prizewinner, he has already enjoyed success on many of the world’s leading stages, including the Opéra National de Paris, the Hamburg State Opera, Glyndebourne, Opera Australia, London’s Royal Opera House and Scottish Opera.
The 2025/26 season included his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain, as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore). He also returned to the Vienna State Opera as Ferrando and performed the same role during the company’s guest appearance at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.
At Opera Australia, he made his role debut as Alfredo in La traviata, and on the concert platform he once again appeared with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, performing in Rossini’s Stabat Mater for the first time.
