Christopher Maltman
After graduating with a degree in biochemistry, Christopher Maltman studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music. He is one of the leading singers at the Royal Opera House in London and a regular guest at the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Salzburg Festival.
He also appears throughout Europe, including at the Paris Opera, in Frankfurt and Zurich, at the Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Dutch National Opera, and La Scala in Milan. In the United States, he frequently performs at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, San Francisco Opera, and in Seattle, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
Alongside his major Mozart roles, he focuses particularly on the Verdi and Wagner repertoire. Recent appearances include the title role in Der fliegende Holländer in Erl and Perth, Scarpia and Don Pizarro at the Vienna State Opera, Wotan in Die Walküre at the Paris Opera, and the Wanderer (Siegfried) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Forthcoming engagements include Wotan (Das Rheingold, Die Walküre) in Paris, Jack Rance at the Metropolitan Opera and Müpa Budapest, Duke Bluebeard at the Hungarian State Opera, and Wotan in Die Walküre at the Salzburg Easter Festival.
