Teresa Sales Rebordão
Portuguese mezzo-soprano Teresa Sales Rebordão is currently a member of the Studio of the Vienna State Opera.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Teresa began her vocal studies at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa with Armando Possante. She went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in singing and master's degree in opera with distinction, under the guidance of Professor Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr. During her studies, Teresa performed the roles of Annio (La clemenza di Tito), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), La messagiera (L'Orfeo), L'enfant (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges) and Stewardess (Flight). In Germany, she discovered a great interest in German song and worked regularly with Professor Ulrich Eisenlohr. She also took further training courses with Ingeborg Danz, Anne Le Bozec and Jan Philip Schulze. As a member of the Studio, she could work with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Helmut Deutsch, Nicole Car, Audrey Saint-Gil and others during master classes. Teresa currently studies with soprano Romana Noack.
Teresa is a prize-winner in various competitions, including the International Singing Competition Cascais Ópera 2024, where she received a contract with the Marvão International Music Festival, awarded by Juliane Banse. At the Vocallis Festival 2021 in the Netherlands, she received the Song Award.
Her roles at the Vienna State Opera include Laura (Iolanta), Third Maid (Elektra), Siegrune (Die Walküre), Mercédès (Carmen), Second Lady (The Magic Flute) and Rosette (Manon) and Laura in the new production of Luisa Miller. At the beginning of this season, Teresa made her role debut as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in a guest performance of the Vienna State Opera.
