Duccio Tariello

© Andreas Jakwerth

The Italian Duccio Tariello completed his training in 2018 at the Tanz Akademie Zürich under the direction of Oliver Matz and Steffi Scherzer. In 2017 he won the silver medal at the international dance competition »Tanzolymp« in Berlin. In 2018/19 he became a member of the NRW Junior Ballet and danced in productions of the Dortmund Ballet and Opera, including »Inferno« and »Swan Lake« by ballet director Xinpeng Wang, »Black Swan« by Marco Goecke and in Philip Glass’ »Akhenaton« directed and choreographed by Giuseppe Spota.

Since the 2020/21 season Duccio Tariello has been a member of the Vienna State Ballet. In the 2023/24 season, he was appointed demi-soloist and with the beginning of the 2026/27 season to soloist. In September 2024, he received the sponsorship award of the Circle of Friends of the Vienna State Ballet. His Viennese repertoire comprises Friend of the Prince and Polish Dancer in Rudolf Nureyev's »Swan Lake«, Édouard in John Neumeierʼs »Lady of the Camellias«, William Forsytheʼs »In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated« as well as roles in Jerome Robbinsʼ »The Concert« and »Glass Pieces«, Lucinda Childsʼ »Concerto«, Anne Teresa De Keersmaekerʼs »Große Fuge«, Hans van Manenʼs »Four Schumann Pieces«, Mark Morrisʼ »Beaux«, Ohad Naharinʼs »Tabula Rasa«, John Crankoʼs »Onegin«, Frederick Ashtonʼs »La Fille mal gardée«, Elena Tchernichovaʼs »Giselle« and Pierre Lacotteʼs »Coppélia«. He also danced in choreographies by George Balanchine and Martin Schläpfer – such as »Lontano« and two pairs in »The Sleeping Beauty« –, as well as in the world premieres of Marco Goeckeʼs »Fly Paper Bird«, Andrey Kaydanovskiyʼs »lux umbra« and Adi Hananʼs »Eden«.
