Katleho Mokhoabane

Katleho Mokhoabane began singing as a soprano in his local church choir before switching to tenor in school choirs. He later studied at Tshwane University and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. While still a student, he appeared as Ferrando (Così fan tutte) at Theater Aachen and as Alfred (Die Fledermaus).

During the 2021/22 season, he took part in various productions in Germany, including Lerma/Herald (Don Carlo) at Oper Bonn and a Solo Inmate in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking at Theater Koblenz. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera, where he made his debut as Kunz Vogelgesang in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Since the 2024/25 season, he has been an ensemble member of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where his roles include Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Alfredo (La traviata) and the Sailor/Young Shepherd (Tristan und Isolde). Role debuts in the 2026/27 season include Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles) and Lenski (Eugene Onegin).

In the 2025/26 season, he sang the title role in the Vienna State Opera’s new production of La clemenza di Tito to great acclaim.
