Charles Castronovo
Born in New York and raised in California, CHARLES CASTRONOVO began his career with the Los Angeles Opera. He was invited to join the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artists Development Program and made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1999 as Beppe (Pagliacci). Already in the first years of his career he sang on the most important stages worldwide such roles as Tamino, Fenton, Don Ottavio, Ernesto, Ferrando, Belmonte. In recent years he has made numerous important role debuts, including, among others, his first appearances as Rodolfo in Luisa Miller at the 2021 Glyndebourne Festival, his role and house debut in the title role of L'amico Fritz at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and his debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Bavarian State Opera. In 2022/23 he made his debut as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur in Salerno and as Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Bavarian State Opera. He also sings Don José in Chicago, Rodolfo at the Met and in Munich, and in Cherubini's Médée at the Berlin State Opera.
