Charles Castronovo
Charles Castronovo, internationally acclaimed as one of the finest lyric tenors of his generation, appears on the world’s leading stages, including the Royal Opera House in London (United Kingdom), the Paris Opera (France), the Metropolitan Opera in New York (USA), the Vienna, Bavarian and Berlin State Operas, Teatro Real Madrid (Spain), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Germany), the Salzburg Festival, and many others.
Born in New York (USA), he is a graduate of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera. In 1999, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Beppe in the premiere performance of Pagliacci.
Over the years, he has captivated audiences in a wide-ranging repertoire, including Alfredo (La traviata), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Don José (Carmen), Chevalier Des Grieux (Manon), Ruggero (La rondine), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), and Rodolfo (Luisa Miller).
More recently, he has expanded his repertoire into lirico-spinto roles, including the title roles in Ernani and Don Carlo, Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Gustavo III (Un ballo in maschera), Jason (Médée), and Cavaradossi (Tosca).
