Alma Neuhaus
The American mezzo-soprano ALMA NEUHAUS was awarded the Liederkranz Foundation Prize at the 2021 Gerda Lissner Lieder/Song Vocal Competition and was a finalist in the 2022 Neue Stimmen competition. She appeared with Les Arts Florissants as Filide in Handel’s Aminta e Filide and was a member of the 2022 Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, where she performed in Suor Angelica and Parsifal.
From 2022 to 2024, she was a member of the Vienna State Opera’s Opera Studio, and since 2024 she has been a member of the company’s ensemble, singing a wide-ranging repertoire from Baroque to contemporary works, including Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Mercédès (Carmen), Meg Page (Falstaff), Tisbe (La cenerentola), Die Liebe (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Muse/Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann).
Most recently, she made her debut with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and gave a solo recital as part of the Bethlehem Music Series in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2025, she became the inaugural recipient of the Opera Verace Foundation’s Young Artist Career Development Grant. Her 2026/27 season at the Vienna State Opera begins with Cherubino, followed, among other engagements, by her role debut as Thibault in the original French version of Verdi’s Don Carlos.
