Ain Anger

KS Ain Anger has appeared regularly at the Vienna State Opera since making his house debut as Monterone (Rigoletto) in 2004 and has sung more than forty roles with the company, ranging from Dossifei in Khovanshchina and King Heinrich in Lohengrin to Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, as well as Zaccaria (Nabucco), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Hunding (Die Walküre), Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) and Landgrave Hermann (Tannhäuser). In 2020, he was awarded the honorary title of Austrian Kammersänger.

He appears at all the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he made his debut as Pimen in Boris Godunov, La Scala in Milan, where he debuted as Daland in Der fliegende Holländer, and the Bayreuth Festival, as well as in Munich, London, Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, Salzburg and Berlin.

In the 2026/27 season, Ain Anger returns to Zurich Opera House, where he portrays Semfira’s Father in Aleko and the Spirit of Virgil in Francesca da Rimini. At Dutch National Opera, he sings René in Iolanta, and at the Teatro Colón, Pimen. He also appears as Hunding at the Bavarian State Opera, as Fafner in Siegfried in Beijing and as Landgrave Hermann at the Opéra de Rouen Normandie.
