Sophie Elisabeth Schippani

Sophie Elisabeth Schippani was born in Wels, Upper Austria, and began studying ballet at the age of three. She participated in numerous ballet competitions, receiving the “Outstanding Performance” award at the Vienna Arts Festival as well as several other distinctions.

From November 2019 to June 2024, she studied at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. Her principal teachers included Martin Schläpfer, Alena Weber, Karen Henry, Andrea Némethová, Vladimir Shishov, Diliana Nikiforova and Callum Hastie. She also took private lessons with Prof. Evelyn Téri-Musil and Chantal Lefèvre, among others. In the 2023/24 season, she additionally trained with the Slovak National Ballet. She appeared in several matinées of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera, including La Sylphide (Auguste Bournonville) and La Bayadère (after Marius Petipa), and danced a duet in JIT (Kinsun Chan).

From 2024 to 2026, Sophie Elisabeth Schippani was a member of the Youth Company of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. Her appearances included the Bird in the world premiere of Martin Schläpfer’s Peter and the Wolf and in Robert Binet's Strauss 2225. Dances for the Future. at NEST, the operetta Die Fledermaus at the Vienna State Opera, and the opening ceremony of the 2025 Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg, choreographed by Eno Peci. With the Vienna State Ballet, she appeared in Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake, Pierre Lacotte’s Coppélia and Elena Tchernichova’s Giselle.

Since the 2026/27 season, she has been a member of the corps de ballet of the Vienna State Ballet.
