Eric Trope
Eric Trope danced with the Miami City Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet for a combined 12 years dancing numerous principal, soloist and corps de ballet roles. He has toured extensively including the NY State Theater, NY City Center, the Segerstrom Center, the Kennedy Center, and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. In 2024, he took over the helm of the Lexington Ballet as the interim Artistic Director for their 50th anniversary season. In July 2025, he started his tenure as Artistic Director of Ballet Des Moines where he was recently named BPC Cultural Leader Newcomer of the Year by Iowa Business Record.
His other choreographic accolades include recipient of the Joffrey Concert Group’s Creative Movers Choreographic Initiative, winner of the Choreocontest for the Nantucket Atheneum Dance Festival, and a participant in the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of the New York City Ballet. Eric Trope has also choreographed works for the New Jersey Ballet, Dimensions Dance Theater, the Mainly Mozart Festival, among others.
He has worked as a répétiteur for Justin Peck staging his work for the Finnish National Ballet, Compañía Nacional de Danza, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, and the Dresden Semperoper.
Finally, Eric is a cofounder of Buddy System, a nonprofit focused on food insecurity that was started in response to the Miami community’s immense need during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
