Bo Wang

Chinese bass-baritone Bo Wang has been a member of the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera since the 2026/27 season.

A particular focus of his artistic work lies in both opera and German Lied. His operatic repertoire to date includes Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Colline (La Bohème), and the Loudspeaker in Der Kaiser von Atlantis.

In 2025, together with Yuriko Watanabe, he won first prize as well as the Audience Prize at the Helmut Deutsch International Lied Competition and was a finalist at Operalia. At the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, he received the prize for Best Lied Interpretation as well as an invitation to give a recital in Dublin during the 2026/27 season. In 2026, again together with his duo partner Yuriko Watanabe, he won first prize at the III. Lied Wettbewerb Bolko von Hochberg. He is also a prizewinner of China’s Golden Bell Award, one of the country’s highest distinctions in the field of vocal music.

In the 2024/25 season, he was a member of the Lied Academy of the Heidelberger Frühling. His concert engagements have taken him to the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and the Schubertíada Barcelona, among others.

He completed his master’s degree in voice at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where he studied with Roman Trekel.
