Alexander Vinogradov
The Russian bass Alexander Vinogradov has been one of the defining voices of his field for many years. He made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre at the age of just 21 as Oroveso in Norma and subsequently established himself rapidly on the world’s leading opera stages.
His engagements have taken him to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Arena di Verona and many other renowned houses. In the 2025/26 season, he appears, among other engagements, at the Met as Count Rodolfo in La sonnambula, at the Vienna State Opera as the Water Goblin in Rusalka and as Zaccaria in Nabucco, and at the Teatro di San Carlo as Timur in Turandot.
In concert performances, he sings Massimiliano in Verdi’s I masnadieri at Madrid’s Teatro Real, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 13 at the Vienna Musikverein, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra with the Munich Radio Orchestra, and Escamillo in Carmen at the Tyrolean Festival Erl.
He enjoys close collaborations with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Gustavo Dudamel, Antonio Pappano and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2011 and has since appeared there in roles including Ramfis (Aida) and Escamillo.
