Hanna-Elisabeth Müller
Hanna-Elisabeth Müller is regarded as one of the leading interpreters of the Lied and concert repertoire and is also a highly sought-after opera singer. Her international breakthrough came in 2014 at the Salzburg Easter Festival, where she appeared as Zdenka in Arabella under Christian Thielemann. She was subsequently named Young Artist of the Year by Opernwelt.
Since then, she has appeared at many of the world’s leading opera houses and festivals, including the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Semperoper Dresden, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, the Zurich Opera House, and the Salzburg Festival.
In the 2025/26 season she takes on three major new productions at leading houses. During the Vienna State Opera’s tour to Japan, she sang the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. In the same role she makes her debut at the Paris Opera in a new production. She also returns to the Vienna State Opera as Vitellia in a new production of La clemenza di Tito.
On the concert stage she performs with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Petr Popelka in Berg’s Seven Early Songsand with the Orchestre National de France under Philippe Jordan in Schumann’s Paradise and the Peri. At the Salzburg Easter Festival she sings Haydn’s The Creation with the Berlin Philharmonic under Daniel Harding.
Further highlights include Beethoven’s Missa solemnis with Zubin Mehta and the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in Utrecht with Karina Canellakis, and Strauss’s Four Last Songs at the Weiwuying International Music Festival in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Hanna-Elisabeth Müller is an exclusive artist with Pentatone. Her debut album Traumgekrönt (2017), featuring songs by Strauss, Berg, and Schönberg, was followed by Reine de Coeur (2020) with works by Schumann, Zemlinsky, and Poulenc. Her most recent release, Sinnbild (2022), a programme devoted entirely to Strauss and recorded live with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and Christoph Eschenbach, received widespread critical acclaim.
Hanna-Elisabeth Müller studied with Rudolf Piernay and attended masterclasses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Julia Várady, Elly Ameling, and Thomas Hampson.
