Francesco Meli
FRANCESCO MELI was born in 1980 in Genoa and studied Vocal Studies at the local Music College in his home town. He made his debut in 2002 at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. The young tenor received invitations from Lisbon, Bologna, La Scala Mailand, the New York Met, Genoa, Florence, the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Zurich Opera, Paris, Lyon, Bilbao, Turin, London, Valencia, Madrid and Verona. Roles he has played include Edmondo (Manon Lescaut), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Elvino (La sonnambula), Jaquino (Fidelio), Duca (Rigoletto), Alfredo (La traviata), Contareno (Bianca e Falliero), Nadir (Les pêcheurs de perles), Chevalier (Dialogues des Carmélites), Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Torvaldo (Torvaldo e Dorliska), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Idomeneo, Werther and Arbace (Idomeneo), Fenton (Falstaff) as well as Argirio (Tancredi). Conductors he has worked with include Riccardo Muti and Lorin Maazel. He gave his debut performance with the Vienna State Opera in 2008 as Ferrando has also sung the roles of Riccardo Percy (Anna Bolena) and Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra).
