The Berlin-based mezzo-soprano Anna Werle is increasingly developing towards the dramatic repertoire, with roles such as Wagner’s Brangäne and Fricka, while her wide-ranging repertoire spans from Baroque through Bellini to Strauss and Wagner, as well as to the contemporary operas of Henze and Benjamin.

She most recently made her debut as Fenena (Nabucco) at the Arena di Verona, as Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) at the NCPA Beijing, and at the Teatro Filarmonico Verona as the Third Maid (Elektra). She also returned to the Stuttgart State Theatre as an alto soloist in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde as part of the ballet evening Mahler X Three Masters, as well as to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Second Angel/Marie (Written on Skin).

In concert, she has appeared as an alto soloist in Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn at Bonn Minster and with the Berliner Singakademie at Berlin Cathedral. She was also a guest soloist in the Christmas concerts of the Südwestfalen Philharmonic.

Further highlights in recent years include Adalgisa (Norma) at the Opera på Skäret Festival and Angelina (La Cenerentola) at the Sofia Opera. Her engagements have also taken her to the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Aalto Theatre Essen, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Halle Opera, the Staatsoperette Dresden, the Heidenheim Opera Festival, the Tyrolean Festival Erl, and the Paphos Aphrodite Festival in Paphos (Cyprus).

The versatile artist is also a sought-after concert and recital singer. Her extensive repertoire ranges from the great oratorios of Johann Sebastian Bach to the masses of Mozart and Beethoven, and to the major Romantic oratorios and other sacred works by Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, and Verdi.
