The renowned historian and journalist Professor Michael Wolffsohn has written a study on Herbert von Karajan's Nazi past on behalf of the Salzburg Karajan Institute. The resulting book has been published by Herder. Michael Wolffsohn paints a comprehensive picture of Karajan's life and actions during the Nazi era and in the years that followed, based on numerous sources, some of which have been analyzed for the first time, and a variety of perspectives. He thus provides a clear, well-founded view of one of the most influential personalities of the 20th century - in the field of tension between music, politics and history.
On February 19, Michael Wolffsohn will present the book in person in a discussion in the Gustav Mahler Hall.
