Roberto Tagliavini

The Italian bass Roberto Tagliavini was born in Parma, where he studied singing with Romano Franceschetto. He appears regularly on the world’s leading international stages, including La Scala Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Opéra de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Bavarian State Opera, Dutch National Opera, Zurich Opera and the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. His repertoire ranges from Rossini, Mozart, Bellini and Donizetti to the French repertoire and major works by Verdi.

His most important roles include Alidoro (La cenerentola), Fernando (La gazza ladra), Lord Sidney (Il viaggio a Reims), Maometto (Maometto II), Moïse (Moïse et Pharaon), the Governor (Le Comte Ory), Count Almaviva and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Rodolfo (La sonnambula), Oroveso (Norma), Giorgio (I puritani), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Philip II (Don Carlo), Attila (Attila), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Pagano (I lombardi), Silva (Ernani), Des Grieux (Manon), Escamillo (Carmen), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), the four villains (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Méphistophélès (Faust), as well as the Requiems by Mozart, Donizetti and Verdi and Rossini’s Stabat Mater.

Most recently, he appeared in I puritani at the Opéra de Paris, Il trovatore and Don Carlo at the Vienna State Opera, La cenerentola in Munich and I vespri siciliani in Berlin. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Berlin State Opera, La Bohème and Macbeth at the Bavarian State Opera, Luisa Miller in Vienna, Don Carlo at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Roméo et Juliette at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
