Freddie De Tommaso
The British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso first attracted major attention in 2018 when he won First Prize, the Plácido Domingo Tenor Prize, and the Verdi Prize at the Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music and subsequently joining the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in 2019, he entered the international operatic scene as Cassio in Otello at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and as Ismaele in Nabucco at the Dutch National Opera.
At the age of 27, he opened the 2020/21 season at the Vienna State Opera as Pinkerton in a new production of Madama Butterfly.
In subsequent seasons, he has continued his meteoric rise on major international stages. Engagements in 2025/26 include Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Royal Ballet & Opera in London, the Paris Opéra, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Rodolfo in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Ballet & Opera, and the Puccini Festival; Rodolfo in Luisa Miller at the Palau de les Arts Valencia and the Vienna State Opera; Don José in Carmen at the Vienna State Opera; Pollione in Norma at the Berlin State Opera; and Umberto Giordano’s Marina.
On the concert platform, De Tommaso appears in a recital at the Hungarian State Opera, in a concert with Lise Davidsen at the Broadstage Theatre in California (USA), and in a concert at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Italy.
