Edgardo Rocha
Edgardo Rocha is widely regarded as one of today’s leading interpreters of the bel canto repertoire and is praised for his warm timbre, vivid coloratura and brilliant top notes. Since his successful European debut in the title role of Donizetti’s Gianni di Parigi at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, he has appeared regularly at the world’s leading opera houses and festivals, including the Zurich Opera House, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival.
Recent highlights include his debut as Florestano in Paër’s Leonora at Chicago Opera Theater, as well as the title role in La clemenza di Tito—first at the Salzburg Mozart Week in a production by Rolando Villazón and later with Washington Concert Opera.
In the 2025/26 season the tenor made a role debut as Nemorino at the Stadttheater Gießen, a role he also sings in January at the Vienna State Opera. On the concert platform he makes his highly anticipated debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor under Thomas Søndergård.
