Andrei Maksimov
Russian baritone Andrei Maksimov graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in 2020, where he sang roles such as Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Robert (Iolanta), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Ferdinand (The Betrothal in the Monastery) and Germont (La Traviata). During his studies, Andrei became a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre's Young Singers Academy, where he performed chamber concerts and contemporary operas, as well as Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), a Flemish Deputy (Don Carlo) and the title role in Brundibar.
In 2019, he studied in Italy with M. Devia, N. Martinucci and M. Pertusi at the Academy of the Teatro Comunale Modena and sang Il Barone di Trombonok (Il viaggio a Reims) at the XXXI Accademia Rossiniana ‘Alberto Zedda’. In 2021 and 2022, Andrei sang the role of Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) at the Berlin Opera Academy in Switzerland and Berlin. In the same year, he won third prize and the audience prize at the 8th George Enesco Singing Competition (Paris).
In the 22/23 season, he appeared as a soloist at the Opéra National du Rhin studio and sang in numerous concerts, including Don Magnifico (Cenerentola, French version), Captain, Hermann Augustus (Candide) and Mandarin (Turandot). He was a finalist in the Ningbo Opera Competition 2023 (Ningbo, China) and winner of the first prize in the Hans Staud Music Prize 2023 (Vienna). In 2023, he completed his master's degree in opera at the Bern University of the Arts with distinction and continued his artistic development as a member of the Studio of the Vienna State Opera from the season 24/25.
In the summer of 2025, he sang the roles of the Count (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Escamillo (Carmen) and Germont (La Traviata) at the Vienna Opera Festival.
Since autumn 2024, he has appeared on stage at the Vienna State Opera in Billy Budd as Donald, in Andrea Chénier as Pietro Fléville, in Madama Butterfly as the Imperial Commissioner, in Roméo et Juliette as Paris, in Don Giovanni as Masetto and in children’s production Sagt der Walfisch zum Thunfisch as NOE in NEST.
