Programme

The historian and journalist Professor Michael Wolffsohn has written a study on Herbert von Karajan's Nazi past on behalf of the Salzburg Karajan Institute.

Based on numerous sources, some of which have been analyzed for the first time, and a wide range of perspectives, Michael Wolffsohn paints a comprehensive picture of Karajan's life and actions during the Nazi era and in the years that followed. In doing so, he provides a clear, well-founded view of one of the most influential personalities of the 20th century - in the field of tension between music, politics and history.
